Tom Scocca is an editor, blogger, and journalist. He is the editor of the newsletter Indignity.[1] He previously contributed to the defunct current event website The Awl, which he originally named.[2] He is a former Gawker and Deadspin editor. His Indignity columns are published on Defector. Previously, he worked at other newspapers and online media platforms such as The Baltimore City Paper, New York Observer, and Slate. [3]
Throughout his career, Tom has written about culture, politics, current events, and memoir-like weather reviews.[4]
In recent years, he has dealt with poor health and a condition that has caused his muscles to decline. According to his own writing, the condition is autoimmune in nature, resulting in his body attacking itself.[5] He has struggled to find a clear diagnosis or a cause for his condition.[6]
