Tim Sheehy (born November 18, 1985) is an American businessman and combat veteran.
Early life and education
Sheehy graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a BS in history in 2008.[1][2] He was the first Midshipman to complete the US Army Special Operations exchange program and graduate from the United States Army's Ranger School.[3][4] He graduated with honors.[5]
Military service
He completed over 200 missions in various parts of the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and the Pacific AO.[6][7] Sheehy served as a Navy SEAL Officer and Team Leader.[7] During his deployments, he completed over 200 missions and was involved in dozens of engagements with enemy forces.[6][7] He received multiple combat decorations, including the Bronze Star with Valor for Heroism in Combat and the Purple Heart Medal.[7]
Career
After being wounded in combat and injured in the line of duty several times, Sheehy was medically discharged from the military.[8][9] He moved to Montana to start Bridger Aerospace in late 2014 with an all-veteran founding team.[10] Sheehy led the growth of Bridger and its sister company, Ascent Vision Technologies, to over 300 employees.[11][12] Bridger eventually went public on the Nasdaq in 2023.[13] Through his businesses, Sheehy has created hundreds of jobs and over one billion in enterprise value in the rural Montana economy.[14] Today, Bridger Aerospace is a major Montana employer and recently joined the ranks of a small group of publicly traded companies in Montana.
Sheehy is an active firefighting pilot, working to combat wildfires in the CL415EAF "Super Scooper."[15]
Political career
Sheehy announced his run for the U.S. Senate as a Republican in Montana on June 27, 2023.[16] He stated that he believes America is ready for change and emphasized the need for a new generation of leaders who understand servant leadership.[17] The Montana Senate race is considered one of the most competitive in the nation and could help decide control of the Senate. Sheehy, who has been actively recruited by Senate Republicans, is set to run against the incumbent, Jon Tester.[18]
Personal life
Sheehy met his wife, Carmen Sheehy, at the Naval Academy. She served as a Marine Officer and is also a combat veteran.[1] Sheehy and his wife Carmen are supporters of the Bozeman Hospital and many other Montana charities.[19][20] They are also teaching their four children to ranch on their 20,000-acre cattle ranch where they raise, feed, and process cattle for American consumption.[21]
