Tim Mak is an American investigative correspondent for National Public Radio.[3]

He covers national security politics, and role of emerging technologies.[3]

He is known for his coverage of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which he covered from within the country after having arrived on the night the invasion began.[4][3]

His investigations in Ukraine include tracking down Russia's notorious 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade[5], and his extensive effort to solve a single war crime in the town of Nova Basan.[6]

He has also written extensively on the National Rifle Association, having published secret tapes showing how the organization's executives reacted in strategy sessions following the Columbine High School massacre.[7] He is an author of a book on the inner workings of the NRA, titled 'Misfire' and published by E. P. Dutton.[8][9][10]

Mak is known for writing the first report on convicted Russian agent Maria Butina[2] and for publishing recorded audio of threats made by Donald Trump|President Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen in order to prevent a story about Trump from being published.[11][12]

He graduated from McGill University where he was valedictorian.[13]
