Tim Carter is an American musician from San Francisco who is best known as the guitarist for the band Kasabian.[1] He is also a member of Loose Tapestries alongside Noel Fielding and fellow Kasabian member Serge Pizzorno, a group put together to produce music for Fielding's TV series Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy.[2]

Early life

Tim was born in San Francisco. At the age of 10, Tim started playing the clarinet, piano, and drums. At Foothill Middle School, he joined jazz band as drummer. He went on to continue playing drums for NorthGate High School's school band. Tim formed a band with his best friend Dave Andre called The Field Mice. After graduating high school he enrolled in Diablo Valley Community College and later transferred to UC Santa Cruz to study Music. While at UC Santa Cruz, Tim played drums in the band Supersauce which featured SNL Alum Maya Rudolph, Jordan Glasgow, Gretchen Lieberun, Alex Budman, Mike Cruz. He graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1994.[3] After relocating to San Francisco, he studied drums with Tony Williams and played in various Bay Area Bands: The Uptones, Jim Greer, Amberslam, Rondo Brothers, and Five Point Plan.[4] [5] [6]

2005–2011 early collaborations

Tim worked with Dan The Automator on several albums including Deltron 3030, Crudo with Mike Patton, Féfé, Anaïs Croze, Pillow Fight, Miles Kane, and Kasabian. In 2008, Tim started his working relationship with Kasabian; beginning with what would become the West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum Album (he would later work on every subsequent Kasabian Album).[7] In 2009 Tim was featured as the rapper, along with Chali 2NA, in the Evian commercial featuring roller skating babies which was entered the Guiness Book of World Record for the most watched viral ad of all time.

2013–present Kasabian

In 2012, Tim started recording full time with Serge Pizzorno and Kasabian.[8] In 2013, he joined Kasabian as the live guitarist.[9] He currently resides in Leicester, England.[10]

Equipment

Tim plays Gibson and Fender guitars. He is usually seen on stage playing 1960s Gibson SGs, Les Paul Customs, and a custom Telecaster built by guitar tech Rich White. For acoustic work he often uses a Gibson L-OO. Tim plays through Marshall Amps.[11]
