Tidarat Yingcharoen (Nickname: Tida) is a Thai academic, educator and a politician who is currently the spokesperson for the Thai Sang Thai Party as well as the director for the party's policy center.

Early Life and Education

Tidarat Yingcharoen was born in Chiang Rai province as a second generation Burmese Lahu people who immigrated to Thailand.[1]

Tidarat completed a bachelor's degree in International Relations with a scholarship from the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. She obtained a Chevening Scholarship and grants from the Oxford (Thai) Foundation while completing a Master's Degree in Public Policy from University of Oxford. Currently, She is pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration at Tsinghua University with a scholarship from the Chinese Government.[1]

Tidarat also took part as a university debater, while studying at Chulalongkorn University and the University of Oxford, and has won many awards in many countries. In addition, She was chosen to be Thailand's representative at the One Young World Summit 2017 in Colombia.[1]

After graduation, Tidarat took part in the drafting of the First Universal Periodic Review of Thailand under the supervision of the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.[1]

In 2021, Tidarat received the Social Action Award of Study UK Alumni Awards 2021-22 by the British Council Thailand for her roles as an advocate for equality in education through independent organizations and political party platforms.[2]

Political Career

Tidarat started her political career at the Pheu Thai Party, holding the position of Deputy Spokesperson. She also ran for a parliamentary seat in 2019 Thai general election as a party-list candidate for Pheu Thai.[3] After the election, she served as a secretary for the 25th Permanent Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives (Thailand)|House of Representatives.[1]

In 2021, Tidarat left Pheu Thai and joined Thai Sang Thai Party[4], becoming its Director of Policy Center. She was later elected to serve as the party's spokesperson after Thai Sang Thai's General Convention in 2020.[5]

Her policy interests includes international affairs, education, and women's rights.[6]
