Theron Lynd (1920-1978) was born on May 30, 1920, in Moss Point, Mississippi[1]. He moved with to Hattiesburg when he was three years old. He attended Mississippi State, and originally joined his father in private business before starting the Hattiesburg Typewriter Company in 1958.[2] He was elected Forrest County Circuit Clerk in 1959, replacing Luther Cox, who had died in office.[3]
Personal life
Lynd, who weighed in excess of 300 pounds[4], died of heart failure in 1978, while serving his 5th term in office as the Circuit Clerk and Registrar of Voters for Forrest County, Mississippi.
