Theodore Gignadze (Geo: თეოდორე გიგნაძე; born December 22, 1960) is a Georgian clergyman of Georgian Apostolic Autocephalous Orthodox Church, rector of the Elevation of the Holy Cross Church Complex,[7][8][9][10][11][12] and Doctor of Theology (ThD).
Biography
Archpriest Theodore Gignadze was born in 1960.[13][14] He graduated from high school in 1978 and received a Bachelor's degree in automatic control and computing technology from the Georgian Technical University in 1983.
Starting in 1989 he began his church life at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul (Location) (rector: Archpriest Archil Mindiashvili).
In 1990-1994 he studied at the Tbilisi Theological Academy.
In 1998 წელს Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, ordained him first as a deacon, and then as a priest. Since 2003 he has been the rector of the Elevation of the Holy Cross Church Complex (Mtskheta-Tbilisi Diocese). In 2005, Ilia II ordained him as an archpriest.[1]
On July 15, 2019, Archpriest Theodore was awarded the degree of Doctor of Theology (ThD) for his scientific work on the topic "The Ecclesiology of Gregory of Khandzta".[4][5][6]
