{{The Speakeasies' Swing Band! are a seven piece Swing/Jazz band based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The line up features Caterina Sisinni (vocals), Panos Karnoutsos (Electric Guitar), Manolis Stamatiadis (Piano), Panos Voularakis (Upright Bass), Giannis Ntalianis (Acoustic Guitar), Christos El. Papadopoulos (Clarinet) and Grigoris Oikonomou (drums). The Speakeasies' Swing Band! formed in 2010. The band's preview Extended play, Bathtub Gun, was released in 2012 and their debut album Land Of Plenty in 2015. They released their Single (music) Walkin' Away Blues in January 2019.

History

The Speakeasies' Swing Band! made their first appearance in SWINGalonica festival in 2010. The band recorded their first official music video for the song "Bright Lights Late Nights", which was filmed by Aristotelis Papakonstantinou (BallenaDePapel) and Efharis Leontopoulou Ntomprou. The video was uploaded onto YouTube on 10 June 2011 and has since received over 5 million views.

Since then, they began touring in Greece & in festivals abroad like the DIGA DIGA DOO festival in Bangkok, Thailand.[1], the Royal Jazz Fest in Bahrain[2], Hep Cat’s Holiday in Great Britain, Copenhagen Lindy Exchange in Denmark, Bansko International Jazz Festival in Bulgaria, Summer Jamboree in Italy[3] and many more.

They shared the stage with famous artists such as Parov Stelar[4], Ray Collins[5], Cherry Poppin Daddies[6], Hillbilly Moon Explosion[7].

In 2011 they appeared in Radio Arvyla TV show, hosted by Antonis Kanakis, with the song I've Found a New Baby.

In 2012, they released their first EP “Bathtub Gin”, consisting of 4 songs. They released a second music video for "Black Swamp Village" which won the 3rd place in the "music video" category. at the International Songwriting Competition (ISC)[8] and has since received over 2 million views.

In 2013 they played in the solidarity concert opposing the closure of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation

In 2015 they released their first album "Land of Plenty", consisting of 9 original songs and a cover of the famous song Parla più piano (by Nino Rota) which received great publicity reaching over six hundred thousand views on YouTube.

The same year they participated in a massive concert[9] that took part in Thessaloniki, GR (alongside with numerous notable artists from the Greek music scene such as Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Dimitris Zervoudakis, Matoula Zamani, etc), about the 2015 Greek bailout referendum to decide whether Greece should accept the bailout conditions in the Greek government-debt crisis proposed jointly by the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank. It was the first referendum to be held since the 1974 Greek republic referendum and the only one in modern Greek history not to concern the form of government.

In 2017 they participated in Athens Festival and Epidaurus Festival with the theatrical performance "Homesickness Blues"[10], directed by Akilas Karazisis and orchestrated by Kostas Vomvolos. On August 2017 they participated in Sofar Sounds with the song Deal With The Devil[11]

In 2018 they played at the National Theatre of Northern Greece[12] with the performance "Homesickness Blues".

In 2019 they released the Single (music) "Walkin' Away Blues" consisting of the homonym song and the cover song "O Pasatempos", by the famous Greek musician Manolis Chiotis. They also released music videos for both of the two songs.

In the same year they participated as headliners at Djangofest[13], in Technopolis (Gazi), Athens.

Among all, they performed in Hollywood’s star Jessica Chastain’s wedding in Treviso, Italy.
