Prof. Taqi Al Abduwani, born in 1966, is an Omani scientist, a professor, and an entrepreneur [1] [2][3][4] .

Education

Prof. Taqi Al Abduwani obtained his PhD in education from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, in 2009. His dissertation assessing the role of the soft component of human capital theory and explained the differences in soft skill endowment in Oman. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Lincoln, UK, in 1998, and his first degree from the Wrexham Glyndŵr University.

Personal Development Experience

He is responsible for two (2) sectors; higher education (Gulf College)[5] and Gulf Specialised Hospital[6]. His key role was to deal with the Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors, and the Dean. He was able to introduce all the legislation for those two (2) industries, taking into consideration the requirements set by the legislative bodies (government and partner institutions) related to standards, criteria, and indicators.

Leading both organizations demanded handling cultures and behaviors; he had to work with people from 15 different cultures. Gulf College and Gulf Specialized Hospital Staffs are from Oman, the UK, the United States, the Philippines, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Germany, and the Netherlands. He was involved in a lot of staff development sessions, which mostly focused on understanding different cultures and soft skills (personal, interpersonal, and situational skills). He also helped make annual financial and non-financial plans, monitored and reviewed performance, and helped the team make an action plan. This is in addition to participating in the staff orientation program, which explains the institution’s vision, mission, values, by-laws, HR regulations, and cultural aspects of Oman, and builds the teamwork of staff from various cultures and disciplines.
