Tanuj Garg (born 29 November) is an Indian Film Producer who is the Managing Partner at Ellipsis Entertainment and was the CEO of Balaji Telefilms (2010-2015).[1][2] He is predominantly known for his works in films like Ragini MMS, Looop Lapeta, Why Cheat India and Tumhari Sulu.[3][4]

Early Life and Education

Garg was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his primary schooling from The Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai and secondary schooling from Sydenham College, Mumbai. He pursued MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Strathclyde Business School, Scotland.

Career

Garg was appointed as the Manager in Film and Television Development for Applause Entertainment in the year 2013. In the year 2004 he worked as a Manger for UTV.

In 2010 he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Balaji Telefilms Ltd. He did his debut in Bollywood film industry with the movie Ragini MMS where he was the co-producer alongside Ekta Kapoor.[5] The movie was awarded with Stardust Award for Best Film in the year 2011.[6]

His second film Shootout at Wadala which was a biographical gangster crime film was released on May 3,2013 under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures. In the same year he co-produced movies like Lootera which was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara.[7]

In 2017, he produced comedy-drama film Tumhari Sulu alongside Bhushan Kumar under the banner of T-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment.[8] At the 19th IIFA awards Tanuj Garg along with Bhushan Kumar and Atul Kasbekar were awarded with the IIFA Best Picture Award for the movie Tumhari Sulu.[9]

Directed by Soumik Sen and produced by Garg under then banner of T-Series Films and Ellipsis Entertainment the movie Why Cheat India was released on 18 January 2019, Emraan Hashmi was seen to make his debut as a producer with this film.

Hindi-language comedy thriller film Loop Lapeta which starred Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead roles was directed by Aakash Bhatia and produced by Tanuj Garg.[10] The film was released on Netflix on 4 February 2022 .[11]
