Tanawara is a small village of 1621 hectares in Luni Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Tanawara depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, Two Wells supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Tanawara is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Tanawara's pin code is 342013[4], and village code is 01994300. The area of Tanawara is segregated as 51.2 hectares irrigated area, 1431.19 hectares unirrigated, the 50.3 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 88.25 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell steel pipe and make their living.
