Susan Kosti (Zsuzsanna Koszti) is a media artist, stage designer and film director born in Paris in 1986. She is working with large-scale public artworks and projection mapping that combine light, music, and modern technology. She lives and work in Sydney, Australia.

Early life and education

Susan was born in Paris and raised in Budapest. She earned a Master of Finance degree from Corvinus University of Budapest.[1] and a Master of Media Design degree from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design[2]. After her education in Budapest, she moved to Sydney in 2019.

Work

Susan Kosti began to work in the world of music and visuals as part of the Hungarian pop-rock band, Punnany Massif[3]. She started to work with live visuals and 3D animation in 2010, and she designed her first stage design in 2016 at Mupa Budapest[4]. Susan was giving lectures on projection mapping in 2012 and started a media design master's course in 2016 at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. During her studies, she directed music videos and made her first short film, IM Perfekt[5]. Her research focused on Transhumanism and Cyborgs. In 2018, she gave a TED talk titled "Invisible Cyborgism."[6]'.

In 2019, Susan was invited to be the art director for the Ring Cycle[7] by Richard Wagner, collaborating with Hartmut Schorghofer[8] during the Wagner days in Budapest. In 2021 she showcased her work on the Guinness World Record Projection Mapping Freefire[9] in Las Vegas. In 2022 Hajogyar[10] created an autobiographical documentary, detailing the journey of her life and works. In 2021 she began her research on datasets and in 2023 she debuted with her first data visualization project What Lies Beneath[11] on Vivid Sydney.

Awards

Susan has received awards in the filmmaking field. She won the audience award at the Foresight Film Festival[12], was named best female director at the Independent Days Internationales Film Festival[13], and secured the Best Director award at the Gocsej Film Festival[14]. Her short film "IM Perfekt[15]" was nominated at the Highlights of Hungary[16]
