Sunny Megatron is an American sexologist and BDSM/kink educator. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Zipper Magazine.

Early life

Megatron studied Bachelor of Science in Marketing (Women's Studies minor) at DePaul University..[1] "Megatron" is not her real last name.[2]

Career

Megatron is a clinical sexologist and sexuality educator. She has taught as a guest instructor at Cintima, a California-based intimacy coordinator training program.[3] As a "BDSM expert", she has hosted the program Sex with Sunny Megatron on Showtime.[4] The show explores the "underworld world" of adult plays, where she interviews real people who reveals their "sexual adventures" and intimate fantasies.[5] Refinery29 called it "unabashed exploration and celebration of sexuality".[6] Megatron has co-hosted the "sex-positive" podcast Open Deeply, with Kate Loree.[7] She has also hosted the podcast American Sex Podcast.[8]

She has written an essay, Day Eleven: How Do You Hear "No", in the book Ask Yourself: The Consent Culture Workbook (2023) by Kitty Stryker.[9] Stefani Goerlich has included Megatron's editorial review in her book With Sprinkles on Top: Everything Vanilla People and Their Kinky Partners Need to Know to Communicate, Explore, and Connect (2023).[10]

Her writing has appeared in the books How to Break Up With Anyone: Letting Go of Friends, Family, and Everyone In-Between by Jamye Waxman (Seal Press 2015)[11] and Curvy Girl Sex: 101 Body-Positive Positions to Empower Your Sex Life by Elle Chase (Fair Winds Press 2017).[12] She edited How to Get Laid Using Your Intuition by Susanna Brisk (2018).[13] Her words has been featured in publications such as Cosmopolitan, Playboy, Jezebel, Buzzfeed, CNN, Refinery29, and Playgirl, among others. She is married to sexuality educator Ken Melvoin-Berg.[14]

In 2016, AVN announced that Megatron was selected as the host of 8th Annual "O" Awards.[15] She was voted #1 in the "Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes of 2017" by Kinkly.com.[16] Her show Outside the Box with Sunny Megatron was streamed on Amazon Prime Video.[17] She also appeared in Best in Sex: 2015 AVN Award TV Special in 2015, X Rated 2: The Greatest Adult Stars of All Time in 2016, and The Travel Channel's Extreme in 2012. Megatron also worked behind the scenes on the 2017 feature film, Diminuendo.

Zipper Magazine

In 2022, Megatron partnered with Clips4Sale to launch the digital magazine Zipper Magazine, aimed at kinky and fetish communities.[18] She is the editor-in-chief of the magazine.[19]
