Stuart R Young (born February 9, 1975) is a Trinidad and Tobago politician and attorney who serves as the Minister of National Security and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister. A member of the People’s National Movement (PNM), he has also held the posts of Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs and Minister of Communications. In his five-year term of office, he has also acted as Attorney General, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is chairman of the Finance & General Purposes Committee (F&GP)-a sub-committee of Cabinet, a member of the National Security Council (NSC), a member of the Energy Standing Committee, co-chair of the Empowered Negotiations Team in Energy and a part of Government’s Covid-19 management team.

Early History
Young attended St Mary’s College in Port-of-Spain.
He pursued law at the University of Nottingham in England and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as an Utter Barrister at Gray’s Inn in 1997.
In 1998, he was admitted to the bar in Trinidad & Tobago.
He was also admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda.
His expertise ranges from civil, commercial, banking, insurance law, industrial relations, public and constitutional law to election petitions and dealing with complex litigation matters.
He has appeared as counsel in Commissions of Enquiry which include: the Piarco Commission of Enquiry, the Commission of Enquiry into the Construction Sector and the Commission of Enquiry into the Hindu Credit Union and CL Financial.
Political Career
He began his political career in March 2014, serving the as an opposition senator (temporary) during the 4th Session of the 10th Republican Parliament. In 2015, he was successfully screened to replace Patricia McIntosh as the PNM’s choice for MP of Port-of-Spain North/St Ann’s West. He was elected into office on September 7, 2015.
He was re-elected to office on August 10, 2020.
