Steven M. Newman (born May 31, 1954) is an American world trekker, public speaker and author. From April 1983 to April 1987, he walked solo around the world and became popularly known as “The Worldwalker.”[1] He is the author or co-author of two books. The longest hiking trail in Ohio's state park system, the Steven Newman Worldwalker Perimeter Trail, has been named after him.[2]

Professional career

Newman graduated from Ohio University with a degree in journalism. He later returned to Bethel to begin what would eventually be officially recognized as the first documented solo walk around the world. His walk around the world was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.[3]
