Steve Horton (born 1977) is a NYT bestselling comic book writer and graphic novelist with credits at Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Dark Horse Comics, and Insight Comics.
Horton graduated from Purdue University with a BA in professional writing in 2002. He first wrote for Strongarm #1 for Image (2007). Since then he has written for various comics, including Amala's Blade: Spirits of Naamaron[1] with Michael Dialynas (2013) and Satellite Falling with Stephen Thompson (2018).
In 2020 Horton wrote Bowie: Stardust, Rayguns and Moonage Daydreams[2] with Michael Allred (2020) was widely received with praise, reaching No. 15 on the New York Times' Graphic Books and Manga best sellers list for 2020.[3] The graphic novel follows David Bowie|David Bowie's life through his Ziggy Stardust (character)|Ziggy Stardust years up to his The Thin White Duke period. It was referenced by the Washington Post as one of the 20 graphic novels that defined 2020,[4] by Comics Bookcase as one of the best graphic novels of 2020,[5] Library of Philadelphia's 20 great graphic novels and comics from 2020[6], The The Oklahoman|Oklahoman's best graphic novels of 2020[7], MakeUseOf's 20 best books to read in 2020[8], and Wired (magazine)|Wired's ultimate gift guide for 2020.[9] Bowie: Stardust, Rayguns and Moonage Daydreams was also runner up in both Publisher Weekly's top graphic novels of 2020[10] and IGNs' best limited comic book series or graphic novels of 2020.[11] Horton was interviewed by the BBC World Service about the graphic novel.
