Istvan "Steve" Diossy (b. 1975, Chicago, IL) is a marine artist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist based in Vero Beach, Florida.[1] Diossy blends fine art with graphic design.

Life and Career

The son of Hungarian immigrants, Diossy and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida from Chicago when Diossy was one year old. His family lived in a mobile home near the beach, where his interest in the ocean and marine life began. He has said his family would live off the fish that he caught as a child. [1] His family moved to Vero Beach when Diossy was a teenager. He attended Vero Beach High School.

Diossy initially showed promise with sculpture work in high school, gaining presidential recognition for his depiction of The Florentine Pietà.[2] Despite this, he focused more on his drawing and continued to work on his fine art background, adding elements of caricature and graphic design to his style [3].

A self-taught artist, Diossy's first job as an artist was airbrushing surfboards, before moving on to work as a freelance graphic designer.[4] He established his company "Ofishulz", (now called "Steve Diossy Marine Artist") in 2010.[4]

Diossy often displays his art at boat shows throughout the U.S., and is the official artist of the Palm Beach International Boat Show. He opened his official gallery in his hometown of Vero Beach in 2020. [1]

Charity Work and other Notable Ventures

Diossy is the designer of the "Protect Wild Dolphins" and "Protect Marine Wildlife" license plates for the state of Florida. These license plates have helped to raise millions of dollars for marine life rescue and other environmental initiatives. [5] The success of the "Protect Wild Dolphins" license plate, lead to Diossy collaborating with Guy Harvey and Wyland on their official Florida license plates.[5]

Diossy is on the board of the directors for the "Protect Wild Dolphins Alliance" - a charity that works on conservation, research and educational programs that focus on preserving Florida's threatened and protected wildlife species.

He is also a partner in coffee company "Castaway Coffee"[6] who donate a portion of their sales to environmental initiatives.[6] The Steve Diossy Marine Art Inspired Resort in St. Pete Beach Florida Diossy has partnered with Plaza Beach Resorts in St. Pete Beach, Florida to create the "Steve Diossy Art-Inspired Resort". The resort features Diossy's art in each room as well as wrapped walls on the exterior of the property.[7]

In 2022, Diossy painted a turtle sculpture for the Friends of Sebastian Inlet Park, as part of a fundraising campaign for the Florida Mental Health Association.[8]
