Ambassador Stephen de Boer is Canada's Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. His appointment began on August 21, 2017.[1]

Biography

Ambassador de Boer is an environmental lawyer, diplomat, and negotiator. He is the third of four children belonging to Dutch parents who had immigrated to Goderich, Ontario.

Advocacy

Ambassador de Boer is a notable supporter of Gender Equality, LGBTQI Rights, multilateralism, and the environment. He has stated that "Being an International Gender Champion requires a genuine commitment we have to lead by example and actions, in our organization and with our peers, to advance gender equality. I intend to do just that in Geneva and at the WTO in particular."[2]
