Stephen Randall is an American editor, writer, and educator best known for his 34-year career at Playboy magazine, where he served as deputy editor and oversaw the magazine's Playboy Interview series. He is the author of The Other Side of Mulholland, a best-selling novel named one of the best books of the year by the Los Angeles Times Sunday Book Review, and has written for numerous national publications.

Career

Randall began his editorial career at Women's Wear Daily and later held senior positions at Los Angeles Magazine. He joined Playboy magazine, where he worked for more than three decades and eventually became deputy editor. At Playboy, Randall was responsible for overseeing the magazine's Playboy Interview, a long-running feature that presented in-depth conversations with leading figures in politics, entertainment, literature, and culture.

In addition to his editorial work, Randall's writing has appeared in publications including the Los Angeles Times (Opinion and Op-Ed sections), The Hollywood Reporter, AARP Magazine, LA Times Magazine, Men's Fitness, Shape, Parenting, Diversion, Rolling Stone, and Fit Pregnancy.

Teaching

For 27 years, Randall was an adjunct professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where he taught courses in magazine writing and editing.

Personal life

Randall lives in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Southern California. He is married to artist Gail Greenfield Randall, and they have one son.
