Stephen Pett is an American author and educator. He is the author of several works of fiction and poetry, including the novel Sirens (1990) and the short story collection Pulpit of Bones (1975).

Career and Publications

Pett's debut collection, Pulpit of Bones, was published in 1975 by Morrow. The work was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews, which noted its focus on themes of the American West.[1]

In 1990, Pett published the novel Sirens (Vintage Books). The novel received national coverage, including a review in The New York Times[2] and a feature in the Los Angeles Times.[3] The Los Angeles Times described the work as a "grimly realistic" exploration of life in a small town.

Pett's short stories and essays have appeared in several literary journals, including the North American Review, Cimarron Review, Missouri Review, The Sun Magazine, Southern Humanities Review, Whitefish Review, and High Desert Journal, among others.[4][5]

Academics

Pett served as a professor at Iowa State University, where he founded the literary journal Flyway.[6] His academic contributions and fiction have been archived in repositories such as ScholarWorks.[7]
