Stephen J. Page

Stephen J. Page is an American biomedical researcher, author, clinician, and science educator who is known for his research on motor recovery and care after stroke.[1] Page has developed stroke interventions such as Constraint-induced movement therapy|modified constraint-induced movement therapy,[2] and applications of mental practice in neurorehabilitation,[3][4] including the first application of mental practice to stroke survivors to increase neuroplasticity.[5] Page has also authored works about topics such as electrical stimulation,[6] Myoelectric|myoelectrics,[7] outcome measurement,[8] and neuromodulation.[9][10]He has held professorial positions at academic institutions such as The Ohio State University Medical Center[11][12] and The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.[13]

Education

Page received his undergraduate degree from The College of Wooster in 1993.[14][15] Page earned his first master's degree in exercise science at Ball State University.[16]. He then earned his PhD in Motor learning|motor learning and control from The University of Tennessee.[17] Page then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation|The Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.[18][19] Page also obtained a second master's degree in occupational therapy at The University of Findlay.[20]

Career

As early as 2002, Page was a professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.[21] Page also served as an associate professor in the school’s other departments, including Rehabilitation Sciences and Neurosciences.[22] Page was also the director of Utilitiesman (United States Navy)|UCCM’s Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Laboratory.[23]

In 2011, Page was an associate professor of occupational therapy at Ohio State University.[24] Page was also a faculty member in the OSU Medical Center’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.[25]

Page also served as a clinical researcher at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.[26]

Page is the co-founder and co-director of the Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist program,[27] a certification program for physical and occupational therapists offered by the American Stroke Association.[28]

According to a 2017 study published in American Journal of Occupational Therapy|The American Journal of Occupational Therapy, which looked at the most cited occupational therapy literature and authors published from 1991 to 2014, Page was the highest cited author in the field of occupational therapy.[29]
