Stephan Stetter (born 9th October 1972) is a German politic scientist. He is professor for international politics and conflict studies at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, Germany.

Stephan Stetter graduated from high school in Weinheim in 1992 and did community service (Zivildienst) in the Protestant Diakonie office there. Stetter studied at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He received his doctorate (Ph.D.) in 2004 with a thesis on EU foreign and domestic policy at the LSE - including a six-month study period at European University Institute in Florence. From 2003 to 2006 he was a research assistant in political science at the Institute for World Society at Bielefeld University. From 2007 to 2008, Stephan Stetter was a substitute professor of political science at Bielefeld University, where he completed his habilitation in January 2008.
In October 2008 he became professor at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.[1]
Work
In his research, Stetter is interested in theories of international politics in global modernity. He views these primarily from a historical, sociological and social theoretical perspective. He is interested in empires and (post-)colonialism in international politics; developments in the Near and Middle East, with a focus on Israel and Palestine, as well as EU foreign relations with a focus on the European Neighborhood Policy.[1][2]
