Steeve Vatz (born Srivatsan on 18 February 1980) is a Guitar Virtuoso, Electric Bassist, Tutor and Music Composer/Music Producer based out of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He worked with more than a dozen music directors in South India. [1].

Early life

Steeve Vatz born to RamaSwamy and Saroja and brought up in Chennai, India. He lost his father at an early age. He was raised by his mother and grandmother. He taught himself to play Guitar at the age of 11. He is the first generation professional musician so he had struggles to convince others to pursue his interest at a young age. [2].


Musical career

Steeve Vatz is a professional Guitar tutor who started teaching in 1997 and has trained and mentored hundreds of musicians. He trained some celebrities too namely S. J. Surya, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Ajith Kumar and Suriya.[3]

Steeve vatz also produces music thru his youtube channel where he performs.

In 2007, he was introduced by Harris Jeyaraj for the movie Bheemaa. He is well noted for his remarkable contribution for the songs in the movie Vaaranam Aayiram and the guitar sales were recorded almost 40% hike all over tamilnadu after the movie got released. As a session guitarist, he has played for various music directors like Ilayaraja, A.R.Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, G.V. Prakash,Dharan Kumar, Anirudh, D.imman|D.Imman, Devi Sri Prasad, L.V. Ganesan, Ramesh Vinayakam, Mickey J. Meyer, Nataraj Shankar, C. Sathya, Ghibran, , Arrol Corelli, Achu Rajamani, Deepak Dev, Anoop Rubens, Ranjin Raj, Nivas K. Prasanna and many others.

Steeve Vatz made his debut as a Music director in 2015 for the movie Uppu Karuvaadu.[4]

Musical style

Steeve vatz is the only indian guitarist who does arrhythmic chromatic scatting with the guitar which is the art of scatting without rhytamic or any key. He has covered a very wide spectrum. Right from Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Funk, Fusion, Cinematic and many more.

He has cited his influences as Yngwie Malmsteen, AC/DC, Steve Stevens, Dave Mustaine, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Al Di Meola and many more.

Personal life

He is married to Helen Jessica and has three children. His interests also include Spirituality, Human and Animal Psychology, Philosophy and Lutheranism.
