Stacy Widelitz (born 1956) is a composer, musician, and photographer known for scoring film features and made-for-television movies.[1]

Biography

Widelitz was born in Plainview, New York.

Music

As a teenager, Widelitz played clubs on Long Island as a member of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians.[2] At age 24, he co-wrote the musical theme for The Richard Simmons Show with imdbname:1633596|Wendy Fraser. He moved to Los Angeles and continued to write music for film features, television movies, and title credits, most notably Dirty Dancing (soundtrack)|Dirty Dancing (1987), Road House (1989 film)|Road House (1989), and 500 Days of Summer (soundtrack)|500 Days of Summer (2009). He co-wrote She's Like the Wind|"She's Like the Wind" with Patrick Swayze for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack;[3] the song climbed to #3 on Mainstream Top 40|Billboard's Top 40.[4]

He received an Emmy Awards|Emmy nomination for ABC's World of Discovery, two BMI Film & TV Awards|BMI Awards, four ADDY award|Gold ADDYs, and the Best Music Award for One Last Dance (2003 film)|One Last Dance (2003) at the Nashville Film Festival.[5]

An avid travel photographer, Widelitz is represented by Chauvet Arts and Prima Signa Galleries.[6]

Personal

Widelitz is currently the board president of Nashville Opera Guild, past board president of the Nashville Film Festival, past board president of ALIAS Chamber Ensemble, past president of Leadership Music, and former Commissioner in the City of Oak Hill.[7] He lives in Nashville, Tennessee|Nashville.
