Stacey Freeman (born 6 January 1980) is an American educational researcher, entrepreneur, and blogger.[1][2] Freeman is the founder of a leading lifestyle blog called poshinprogress.com.[3] Under her leadership, this blog has become one of the most visited online blogs covering content related to fashion, parenting, travel, and cooking/baking.[4] With her blog, she has acquired a social media following of over 650,000 and over 3M monthly views across all platforms.[5][6]

Freeman has over a decade’s experience in the higher education industry and has implemented multiple programs including STEM outreach and education programs.[7] Freeman served at several prolific Universities such as Arizona State University, Boston University,[8] UC Irvine and currently works at UCLA.[9]

Freeman has even partnered with many major travel, fashion, parenting, and lifestyle brands and has been featured in Women's Health and Woman's Day Magazine.[10] She has even been on local TV News and most recently on Disney Family Sundays[11] on Disney+.[12][13] As a former model, Freeman also takes up modeling and advertising contracts with brands to help them gain online traction.[14]

Early life and education

Freeman was born on 6 January 1980 to Deborah Vicario and Anthony Vicario. She grew up in Green Bay, WI, with her sister Trisha Vicario. Freeman after graduating from Ashwaubenon High School enrolled in the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

After completing college, Freeman moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, and worked in school-age childcare with the YMCA. Soon after, she moved to Tempe, Arizona, to pursue higher education. She completed her masters’ in Higher Education Administration and Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Evaluation from Arizona State University in 2016.[15][16]

Career

Freeman started her career in 2004 when she began working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University. She worked for over five years at this University, assuming different management roles.[17]

In 2009, Freeman became an Assistant Director at the University of Kansas where she served for over two years. In 2011 Freeman became the Director of Education at UC Irvine, where she served for three years.[18] In 2013, Freeman founded the Posh in Progress lifestyle blog that covers everything from fashion, recipes, family/parenting tips, to travel.[19][20]

After her exit from UC Irvine, Freeman joined Arizona State University as a Grant Project Manager and then, eventually became a Program Manager, during her tenure of over three years.[21] In 2017, Freeman was appointed as the Assistant Dean of Outreach and Diversity at Boston University where she served for almost three years.[22]

In 2020, Freeman became the Executive Director at the University of California, where she is currently working.[23] In the course of her career, Freeman also won multiple grants from the National Science Foundation to implement programs with museums across the U.S.[24]

Personal life

Stacey is a mother of a son named Rocco and a daughter named Giada. The family also has a French Bulldog named Coco.
