St. Mary's Institution is a private Catholic university in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States of America. The St. Mary's University School of Law is one of the professional graduate schools within St. Mary's University.

There are around 770 students enrolled in the School of Law. These students are working toward earning degrees in Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.), or Master of Jurisprudence (M.Jur.).

The San Antonio Bar Organization founded the San Antonio School of Law in October 1927. For the first seven years following the school's inception, it was managed by a board of governors that was directly accountable to the bar association. Classes were offered in the Bexar County Courthouse for a period of time prior to the School of Law becoming affiliated with a physical location. The Board of Governors of the nascent school discussed with St. Mary's University about transferring the administrative management of the School of Law to the latter institution in an effort to make the most of the educational and material resources available to the university. On October 1, 1934, the transfer was successfully accomplished, and the following day, the St. Mary's University School of Law was formally created.

At that time, the School of Law was located at the old downtown campus of St. Mary's University, which was located at 112 College Street. In the years immediately after World War II, San Antonio witnessed explosive growth in both its population and its commercial and industrial sectors due to the presence of a number of military posts. As a consequence of this exponential expansion, there are now more students studying law. The School of Law reorganised itself to conform to the standards set out by the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools in order to fully satisfy these newly formulated criteria. In February of 1948, it was granted accreditation by the ABA, and in December of 1949, it was accepted into membership in the AALS.
