Biography

[Sreenanda] was born in Kolkata, India, to Tanusree and Ananda Shankar[6]. She hails from a family that has a long-standing legacy in Indian arts and culture consisting of Uday Shankar (grandfather), Amala Shankar (grandmother), Ravi Shankar (granduncle), Mamata Shankar (aunt), Anoushka Shankar (first cousin, once removed), Nora Jones (first cousin, once removed) and Gingger Shankar (second cousin). As a child, she spent a lot of time accompanying her parents on music recordings, dance tours and performances along with their orchestra and dance troupe. It is this exposure to the performing arts that got Sreenanda interested in dance, makeup and acting from a very young age. She then went on to get trained in all of these; dance at the Tanusree Shankar Dance Academy[7] and a brief stint at Alvin Ailey#The Ailey School|the Ailey School; makeup at an academy in London[5]; and acting at Roshan Taneja's School of Acting[8] in Mumbai, as well as the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute[9] in New York.

Career

Sreenanda is a Director at Tanusree Shankar Dance Company, an institute propagating the Shankar Technique of New Dance.

As a dancer, she has performed on stage across India, as well as in USA, UK, Spain, Scotland, Taiwan, Oman and the Netherlands. On television, she is known for multiple dance-dramas where she plays the role of Goddess Durga[10][11]

Founder of "Makeover Madness. It's about what suits You", an online platform helping thousands of women everyday with makeup tips, makeovers and motivational insights on life.

As a model, Sreenanda has featured in TV/video commercials and ad campaigns, while as an actress, she has worked in movies[12] including those made by 3 national award winning directors - Aparna Sen, Suman Ghosh and Srijit Mukherji.
