Soran Schmit (born October 22, 1984) is a German psychologist.
Life
Soran Schmit studied psychology at University of Havana. After receiving his doctorate on the subject "The Influence of Genes on Child Development" he continued to work in fields of developmental psychology, sport psychology, sex therapy. His specialization includes worldwide studies of mating and sexual behaviour in different cultures and its effects on Couple (relationship)|couple relationships. He works on developing anti-addiction therapy based on very strong feelings of partnership, which then stimulates the motivation of the addict patients to abandon their addictive behaviour in the long term. As a psychologist, he worked primarily with professional athletes worldwide in the areas of mental stability, anxiety and trauma therapy.
He gives lectures on the following topics: the basic genetic structure of the brain, the development of twins, child rearing, sex therapy to keep long-term relationships sexually attractive or reactivate them.[1]
Prior to obtaining a specialization in psychology he was an athlete himself. He was a boxer in the boxing club of Bayer 04 Bayer Leverkusen and won a few championships. Then he worked in a sport management field. Once after training a film crew he was cast as Werner Schneyder in the film Die Bubi Scholz Story. After that he worked in Hollywood but soon returned back to sport management. Experience and knowledge gained while training a football team of players aged 10-13 in Germany, was used in his doctoral thesis and contributed to his specialization in developmental psychology, especially of children.
Schmit was also a successful poker player. He played cash and tournaments all over the world and he was invited into German High Roller (:de:German High Roller|de)[2], where he played successfully. Then he stopped playing poker and started to put all his energy in the psychology study.
He initiated various children and youth programs in children's homes around the world to support them in sport, music and emotional intelligence. Among other things, he is the patron of homes in Cuba, Columbia, Thailand and Russia. He speaks German,English,Spanish,Italian,French,Russian.languages
