Sophie Mercken

Sophie Mercken née Hartmann (1776-1821) was a French composer and music teacher. She was the eldest of three daughters born to [Johann Kilian Mercken], the first piano maker in Paris.[1] She was also the sister to Gertrude Mercken, a French painter. [2] She married Casimir Hartmann in 1802. [3] Her only known compositions are a collection of Six Romances for Voice and Accompaniment.
