Sonpur Kalan is a small village of 175 hectares in Ballia Tehsil in Ballia district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sonpur Kalan depends on Ballia (MB), the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One Well supply, One tubewell and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Sonpur Kalan's pin code is 277203[4], and village code is 09223900. The area of Sonpur Kalan is segregated as 68.59 hectares irrigated area, 6.03 hectares unirrigated area. and remaining 57.32 hectare area not available for cultivation.
