Somesar is a small village of 1886 hectares in Shergarh Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Somesar depends on Phalodi, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Somesar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Somesar's pin code is 342025[4], and village code is 01975500. The area of Somesar is segregated as 1720 hectares unirrigated, the 93 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 73 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Somesar has One post office (Setrawa S.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Somesar has One bank and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Somesar is a census village in the district of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1772 and has total administration over 352 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Phalodi and Jodhpur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
