Snailbones is an American PNW noise punk band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2017.[1] The current line-up is formed of guitarist Timothy Francis, bassist Kelly Minton, and drummer Drew Owens. The band is best known for its hit albums, such as Keelhaul ’em All and Tinnitus Alrightus.[2]

History

The band Snailbones is a musical trio that formed in 2017 in Portland, Oregon. The group consists of founding member and guitarist Timothy Francis, as well as bassist Kelly Minton. Known for their versatility, Snailbones create music that spans multiple genres, including indie, classic rock, and acid rock. The group's sound is characterized by energetic vocals, pulsating bass, and vigorous drums and guitar.[3]

After playing at several shows and events in their hometown, Snailbones became known and liked by music fans there. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group hit the studio and recorded two albums in a five-day session at Map Room Studios. The first album, "Tinnitus Alrightus," was released in 2022, showcasing their musical talents and noise punk abilities.[4]

Their second album, "Keelhaul 'em All," is a nine-track album that captures the energy of a live show.[5][6] The album features a blend of punk-infused hard rock, pairing Nirvana-style angst with Sonic Youth noise on tracks like "Dead Inside" and "Mouse Clap." Other hit tracks from the album include "Death Face," "Floating," "Sweet and Serene," and "Slave to Hate."[7]

Currently, Snailbones is writing and working on the release of their third album, which is scheduled to be recorded in Chicago in March 2023 with engineer Steve Albini. Steve Albini is known for recording many well-known and prominent bands such as Nirvana, The Pixies, The Breeders, PJ Harvey, and Bush.
