Skyler Maxey-Wert (born January 5th, 1996) is an American ballet dancer.
Early Life and Education
Skyler Maxey-Wert was born on January 5th, 1996 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.[1] When he was five years old he began learning how to dance at Lancaster School of Ballet.[1] Furthering his dance education, he also studied at The American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, as well as taking summer courses at American Ballet Theatre, the Cecchetti Counsel of America, and Katsbaan.
Career
In 2014, Skyler Maxey-Wert joined Semperoper Ballett in Dresden, Germany as a member of the Corps de Ballet. In 2017, he was promoted to Coryphée, a leading of the Corps de Ballet. In 2020, he was promoted to Second Soloist.[2]
Personal Life
He was in a relationship with Michaela DePrince. A video of the now former couple, produced and choreographed by Heather McCown, performing La Valse in 2013 is available to watch on YouTube.[3] The two were also featured a behind-the-scenes video of a photoshoot they did in Jacob's Pillow Dance for World Ballet Day in 2014.[4]
Skyler is currently in a relationship with Alejandro Martínez, fellow second soloist with Semperoper Ballet.[5]
