Miss Sara Jay formally known as Simone Johnson born in Tauranga, New Zealand and made her wrestling debut in Brisbane, Australia against Dani The Flower Child. In her debut match, she became the first ever WCWA Junior Womens champion. Later, she became the WCWA womans champion and first female to hold two title belts within the company. Sara Jay also became the first ever NAW Womens Champion in Melbourne, Australia. [1]
Early 2009, Miss Sara Jay partakes in all female elimination match with PWAQ in Brisbane, Australia against Jessie Mackay, Sway, Kellie Skater, Aurora, Tenille Taylor and Shazza Mackenzie. Earlier that night, Sara Jay gets attacked by Kellie Skater and Mason Childs, leaving her bruised and not at her fittest for the women's bout. [2]
Later in 2009, Sara Jay took a TV contract with Carlos Colon to work for WWC in Puerto Rico. She won her debut match against Killer Kat and became the first NON Puerto Rican woman to win the championship. [3] Due to the excitement of fans to see the petite beauty trying to climb backstage fences, Sara Jay had to be escorted out of the arena. Later than year, Sara Jay moves to Chicago Illinois, in a quest to further her wrestling career.
She quickly became popular among the Mexican LUCHA LIBRE scene in Chicago and made her GALLI debut- all spanish speaking Lucha Libre federation, against Juliet aka Ivelisse Velez in a heated match. [1] It was noted, Ivelisse did not personally "like" Sara Jay and was often cited for making rude comments, causing scenes in public and personally "attacking" Sara Jay online directly and on public pages. In November 2011, Sara Jay makes her debut in her home country for KPW in Wellington, where she defeats local sweetheart Nurse Payne. [4]
In 2014, UPW Queensland, holds a three way bout for the Adelaide RIOT CITY WRESTLING Womens Championship bringing in the current holder Savannah vs Toni Storm vs Sara Jay. A great match, Savannah flies back to Adelaide still their womens champion. [5] [6] [7] Miss Sara Jay was scouted by WWE employee Jesse Williams [8] and received an official WWE tryout under the coaching of Bill Demott aka Hugh Morris. Not long after this tryout, Bill Demott resigns from his trainer position at WWE after being known for his rough and controversial training methods.
In a later interview, Sara Jay notes when asked, that she "remembered having to train for hours on the cold concrete floors and her elbows, like many were swollen like tennis balls from many drop down drills on the concrete. But no one questioned his authority." In 2015, Sara Jay was entered in a 30 man Battle Royale as the only female entrant for the prestigious Paragon Championship. Sara Jay was the last remaining entrant, defeating Tim Kaad by flipping him over the top rope. She became the first and only female to hold this championship. [9] Later in 2015, Sara Jay decided to return to Switzerland and pursue her dream of wrestling across Europe. Dec 2015, she won her return match at SPW and became the SPW Swiss Womans Champion. 2016 saw her debut for Irish federation CCW in Cork City and Pro Wrestling Mafia in Budapest, Hungary. In her second match for CCW in Ireland, Sara Jay enters a three way international dance against Irish local Craven Reed and Scotland's own Nikki Storm . [10]
PERSONAL LIFE
In 2022, it was cited Sara Jay was officially dating fellow kiwi and strongman competitor Jayson Woods when they publicly announced their relationship. [11] [12]
Sara Jay was cited to announce in she wanted to spend more time focusing on her relationship with Woods and accompany him as much as possible to his own strongman competitions, with her eventual move back to New Zealand. Stating, Woods had provided her more happiness than all her years of wrestling accomplishments. She admitted she had had a huge crush on him since they first met back in 2016.
Despite her petite stature, Sara Jay also competes in strongman events in both Australia and New Zealand. Her father William Johnson, also fellow strongman competitor and owner of strongman federation ISF:Independant Strength Federation. [13]
Sara Jay has also appeared in multiple film and television series across Australia, Europe and the United States.
In 2021, whilst filming in Los Angeles, the covid crisis enforced a worldwide lockdown, stranding Sara Jay and fellow actors and crew members in their Santa Clarita hotel.
