Career
Simon Allen is an education executive who has served as CEO of Macmillan Education, [2] president of The Publishers Association, [3] and most recently CEO of McGraw Hill. [4] Allen was appointed CEO of McGraw Hill in May 2020, having served as the company’s interim CEO since October 2019. [5] [6]
At McGraw Hill, Allen oversaw the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included providing direct assistance and free learning materials to thousands of students, educators and institutions in Impact_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic_on_education|transitioning to remote learning [7][8][9][10]; increasing the company’s longtime focus on Adaptive learning|adaptive and digital learning materials[11][12]; and quickly transitioning McGraw Hill to remote work. [13] Allen has been repeatedly quoted as predicting that remote learning will remain a feature of the global education landscape for the foreseeable future. [14][15]
In February 2021, Allen was one of more than 150 CEOs who signed a letter publicly urging the United States Congress|U.S. Congress to pass President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 relief package. [16]
