Simmi Singh; born May 25, 1989), better known by her former pseudonym, The Simszter is an Indian-American YouTube personality and actress, of Punjabi descent, who produces parodies, vlogs and comedy sketches on YouTube. Singh has over 969k subscribers.[2] Her videos are often compared to Lilly Singh, Liza Koshy and Jus Reign who are all of South Asian descent and make similar videos.
Early life
Singh was born in Ocala, Florida. When she turned 8, she moved to India and lived there for 4 years.[3]
Career
In 2014, Singh uploaded her first video on YouTube titled "Why do women date douchebags!?". The video has garnered 42 thousand views since 2014.[4] She mostly gained popularity when she was featured in Yousef Erakat's videos. Her most popular video is "EXPECTATIONS VS. REALITY: SKINNY JEANS" which as over 18 million views.[5]
Since 2017, she's portrayed Sophie in Just Another Nice Guy, Claire in Overthinking with Kat & June and Jess in Light as a Feather.[6] Also in 2017, she signed with AwesomenessTV, a creator network.[7] She later signed with Scale Management.[8]
Singh is also popular on TikTok, where she has over 226k followers and 2.2 million total likes.[9]
In 2019, she partnered with Comedy Central to do her own "Under the Influencer Week", which has been done by Anthony Padilla, Gus Johnson, etc. She did multiple skits and appeared on Getting Closure, hosted by Sydnee Washington.[10][11][12] She has appeared on the Matthew Santoro Podcast, where she talked about her career on YouTube.[13]
In 2020, she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show original, "Think Tank".[14]
Personal life
Singh started dating fellow YouTuber Yousef Erakat in mid-2018. They later broke up.[15] She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
