Simbarashe Hudson is a Zimbabwean Jazz Guitarist based in the second city of the country, Bulawayo. Simbarashe Hudson was born Born in Kwekwe -20-10-1961 and has been a professional musician for over four decades.

Fourth album recorded in 2010 entitled “Chenga Ose”

WORK HISTORY

The first group Simbarashe Hudson formed was called Montana Ray in 1975. He joined Amakhosi art theatre in 1996 and opened shows for Oliver Mtukudzi, Stella Chiweshe and Leonard Zhakata until 2000.

In the year 2000 he formed a group called Five Fold, and toured the country extensively.

In 2007, he performed at HIFA (Harare International Festival of the Arts) which opened many avenues in his musical career, leading to performances in many acclaimed venues in Harare like Book Café and The Mannenburg. He then left for South Africa and he lived in Germiston where he played with several South African groups.

The people that he have performed with in Zimbabwe are Kelly Rusike of Jazz Invitation, Nicholas Nare of Colour Blue and Vincent Gurure. He also remembers the late great Zexie Manatsa[1]He has done collaborations with Edith Katiji of Utonga and played the lead guitar on two of her albums.

Simbarashe Hudson worked briefly with Thomas Mapfumo before his departure to the United States of America in 2005. Simbarashe has an unreleased album with Keith Farqhauson of Ilanga; the album will be released this year (2023).

Simbarashe Hudson also played alongside renowned artists like Asha Lasha (Nigeria), Nancy Ginidza (Swaziland), Gospel Trumpet and also performed at Mela Festival, Oslo in Norway, alongside Busi Ncube.

He has also been to Ghana and Kenya.

Currently, he is doing session work with several groups, including Jeys Marabini and working on two albums.

Recently held a show[2] at The Oasis[3] on the 12th of May 2023
