Silvio Berardi (born 6 September 1982) is an Italian academic historian, who specialized on the process of European integration[1], on Euro-African cooperation[2] and on liberal and republican Europeanism[3].

He is also one of the long-standing voices of the Cusano Academy project[4], for the scientific dissemination of historical knowledge through the radio channel Radio Cusano Campus[5] and the television channel Cusano Italia Tv[6], broadcasters of the Niccolò Cusano University of Rome.

Biography

Berardi was born in Rome and studied under Gianluigi Rossi at the Sapienza University[7], and under Giuseppe Parlato, a disciple of Renzo De Felice[8]. Full Professor of History of International Relations at Niccolò Cusano University, he is an academic member of the Royal Historical Society and component of the International Advisory Board of the international journal Transactions, published by Cambridge University Press[9]. In 2016, he was awarded the International Pope Boniface VIII|Boniface VIII Prize for his innovative research work, related to the Italian contribution to the process of European integration[10], based, as pointed out by Gaetano Pecora in Il Sole 24 Ore, on an original methodology capable of combining the tools of historical investigation with proper doctrinal research[11], as highlighted, moreover, by its participation at the international Utrecht University's Security History Network[12]. Since 2017, he became an Honorary Member of the Scientific Committee of the Bonifaciana Academy[13] and, since 2019, he has been an Ex officio member of the Italian Society of International History[14].

Author of over a hundred scientific publications of national and international relevance, he is editor of the scientific journal Europea[15], review specialising in international relations and European defence issues[16]. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Ugo Spirito e Renzo De Felice Foundation in Rome[17] and of the Centro di studi storici, politici e sociali Gaetano Salvemini in Naples[18].
