Sidtartha Jane Casablancas (born August 15, 2001) is an American dancer, actress, and singer. She has been known for her versatility in production, movement, and visual work. Her music, which incorporates progressive and transgressive themes of modernist and pop art, have generated both controversy and critical acclaim.
Sidtartha moved to Greenwich Village in 2021 to pursue a career in contemporary dance.
2001-2017: Early life
Sidtartha Jane Chieze was born on 15 August 2001 in Upper East Side, Manhattan in New York City to Jewish parents. Her father, Thomas "Tommy" Chieze was a hardware store owner, and her mother, Sam (née Shwartz), was a grocery store clerk. She was adopted by her aunt at the age of 4. She has a half brother, James, and a biological sister named Rose.
As a child she attended a weekly cheder, as well as Rodeph Sholom on the Upper East Side before attending the Dalton School.
Chieze later enrolled at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, graduating at age 16.
She received a dance theatre scholarship to Stella Adler and studied over the summer at the Millenium School as well as a year with UCB, and eventually performed with Robin Antins Dance. She also studied and danced under the tutelage of the noted American dancer and choreographer Nick Lanzisara.
2021-2026: Career beginnings
In 2021, Sidtartha started dating musician Julian Casablancas. Shortly after meeting him, she successfully auditioned to perform in Berlin with disco artist Juan Atkins as his backup singer and dancer. During her three months with Atkins, she also traveled to Paris and Istanbul before returning to New York in August 2021. Sidtartha moved into a music studio and rehearsed LES. She formed her first band, Trip, for which Sidtartha played bass. While with the band, Sidtartha briefly worked as a coat-check girl at Taix and modeled on the side for Comme de Garcon. In January 2023, a talent manager signed Sidtartha to a contract and worked as her manager until February 2023.
After getting discovered by renowned photographer Brad Elterman she was signed to agency First and did modeling work for Celine, Comme De Garcon, Gucci, Y Project, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Alessandro Michele, Undercover, Keds, Canon, NYFW, PWS, and LFW. She did covers for Vogue Italia and Mexico, Wonderland, and 1883.
She had been briefly managed by Om'mas Kieth who had run the underground hip hop collective Odd Future and worked with the art songs fund Hipgnosis. In late 2024, she released the Album Heaven thru the label PC Music. She did a mini promotional tour thru clubs in the EU. In 2026 she began managing the record label Cult.
