Shojae Hoseinzadeh (born Aug 24, 1998 in Baneh) is an Iranian journalist. He is the Executive Director of "Baneh News" and "Baneh TV" in Kurdistan Province.[1][2]

The crimes

In 2017, Shojae Hoseinzadeh was sentenced to 74 lashes by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Baneh on charges of “insulting the President of Iran”.[3][4][5] The decision was prompted by the publication of a satirical letter addressed to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about the filtering of Telegram.[6][7][8][9] On February 13, 2018, Shojae Hoseinzadeh had published two articles on Baneh News website, “Destruction of tea houses and disrespect of municipal employees to fruit sellers in Baneh” which angered the mayor of the city.[10][11] Shojae Hoseinzadeh was also arrested in June for inciting people to strike and take to the streets on his website.[12]

Selection

On 2019, Ebrahim Raisi advisor appointed Shojae Hoseinzadeh to the post of “Deputy President for Media and Culture” at the Kurdistan Provincial Election Headquarters.[13] Hoseinzadeh is one of the young forces close to the government that won the post of vice president in Kurdistan.[14] In the sixth round of the elections of the Islamic Council of Baneh, Shojae Hoseinzadeh was able to play an influential role in the election of the sister of “Zeryan Hoseinzadeh” as the “first vote” of Baneh with 3,369 votes.[15][16]
