Shiva Bahadur Pariyar (Nepali: शिव परियार) professionally known as Shiva Pariyar, is a Nepali singer, songwriter[1], and performing artist.[2] It can be seen in songs like “Kaha Theyau Timi, Kya Dami Bho, and Pilayo Sathile.[3]

Pariyar has learned classical music and has been involved in music training and professional singing.[4] He has released eleven studio albums including 'Kadambini' and 'Kya Dami'. He also sings for Nepali movies as well.[5]

Early life

Shiva Pariyar was born on 22nd February 1982 (बि. स. 2038 फाल्गुन 11), in Hajaria-08 (currently Barahathwa Municipality-02), Sarlahi district of Nepal.[6] He is son of Sadhuram Pariyar and Man Kumari Pariyar.[7] He comes from a small village and lower-middle-class family. [8]

Education

He went to a local school, Shree Saraswoti Secondary school[9], in his childhood up to school degree.[10] After completing his school-level education, Pariyar moved to Kathmandu for his higher education and he studied music. He studied Eastern Classical Music Vocal with Chandan Kumar Shrestha in Gandharva Music Training Center Nepal, Asan, Kathmandu from 2000 to 2009. [11]

Music career

He started musical training since he was 12 and his musical career started in 2003 with the debut song “Jati Birsyo Timro Yaad”. He is also a Gold Medallist in the ‘National Contemporary Music Competition’ hosted by Radio Nepal] in 2003.[12] He incorporates a range of genres from classical music to modern pop.[13] He is also skilled at Eastern Classical vocal, Eastern Classical Tabala, and Western Classical guitar.[14] [15] He also actively participates in social works.[16] [17] From debut album, Mokshya to recent release Shivalaya his music has garnered positive feedback from music fans.[18]

Album discography

Pariyar released his debut studio album, Mokshya in 2005 and after 3 years, Pariyar released back-to-back two studio albums, Swayam and Kadambini, in 2008.[19] Then, he delivered his fourth studio album "Kya Daami" in 2009 followed by the fifth album Fateko Man in 2010. He received the Best Play Back Singing/Kalika FM Music Award for 'Sangai Dubdai Chhu Timro Yaad Ma' "Piudina Vanda Vandai Pilayo Sathile" have demonstrated him for turning into a liked artist. Pariyar dropped his sixth studio album, Pagal in 2011 and released two consecutive albums Kathale Magepachhi and Only for You Mero Sathi in 2012. In 2013, Pariyar released the ninth studio album ‘Tadako Sathi’ composed by Umesh Subba.[22] His tenth album titled Shiva Book was released in 2015 and released eleventh studio album, Shivalaya on the 4th of July, 2021. The latest album is a digital release only.[23]
