Shir Hakatar (Hebrew: שיר הקטר) or Hakatar 70414 is an Israel song that was written in the 1950s by Haim Hefer, composed by Yohanan Zarai, and originally performed by Arik Lavie. Over the years, the song was also performed by Ehud Banai, Yigal Bashan, Svika Pick, Chocolate, Menta, Mastik accompanied by a trio, Gery Akshtein, Hoppa Hi, Rafi Ginat, and Atraf (band), as a part of the Avoda Ivrit (musical project) 1 album.

The song describes an exhausted and old steam locomotive named Hakatar 70414 on its final journey from Beersheba to the Israel Railways depot in Haifa Bay.[1] At the end of the trip, Hakatar 70414 was sent to the Scrappage program.[2] The song was written as part of a short Israeli promotional film about the development of Israeli trains during the period when the old steam locomotives from the Mandate period (“hamelekh hayashan” in lyrics) were replaced with modern diesel locomotives (“hamelekh hachadash”).
