Shikotan (Japanese language 蘂取村, Shibetoro-mura, Russian language: Шикотан) is a List of villages in Japan in Shibetoro District, Hokkaido, both of which are located in the disputed Kuril Islands dispute. It is currently administered by Russia as part of Yuzhno-Kurilsky District in Sakhalin Oblast, although Japan continues to claim it as part of Hokkaido.[1]
Geography
The municipality is located on the eastern portion of Iturup.
