Shelandra Y. Ford (born January 1970), is an African American Female Politician, born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She made local History in August 2018, as becoming the very first elected African American and female ever elected to the position of Shelby County Register of Deed and after successfully winning two competitive elections. she held the position as Shelby County Register for four years. Ford currently holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Organizational Development from Bethel University. She is a proud Memphis-native and has over 24 years of service to various Shelby County government agencies; she has served on various committee including Former Shelby County Archives Committee, Former Shelby County Historical Committee, Former Public Records Commission Chairwomen, Former Information Technology (IT) Steering Committee, Former West Tennessee Register’s Board Secretary. Ford is a Former Member of the County Officials Association of Tennessee (COAT), Women’s Council of NAREB Memphis Chapter and Former Shelby County Government’s Unified Personnel Policy Committee member.

Personal Life

Under Ford’s previous administration she created, E-Filing technology to better serve the real estate community in filing deeds offsite, Implemented the Fraud Protection program to better protect the citizens from fraud prevention. She also has made the entire office more accessible to the communities by provided several new area locations to better service her local area. Ford also continued to successfully increase the office revenue, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she launched a new innovative Website and GPS Portal to better assist with real estate and property and furthermore, Ford conducted on-site training and presentations for Real Estate companies on how to navigate the new website and assist with setting up Electronic Filling. Most important, Shelandra Ford was also implemented a Register of Deeds Community Awareness Outreach program and initiative to better educate the residents of Memphis and Shelby County. Ford has also worked for various court operation and has an array of office, court room and administrative skills. She currently holds the role as the City of Memphis Deputy Treasurer for the City Treasury Office. Shelandra Yvette Ford is a notable jewel and a great asset to the City of Memphis and Shelby County.
