Shekhon Ka Tala is a small village of 16043 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Shekhon Ka Tala depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Shekhon Ka Tala is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Canal. Shekhon Ka Tala's pin code is 345028[4], and village code is 02046800. The area of Shekhon Ka Tala is segregated as 746.81 hectares irrigated area, 309.8 hectares unirrigated, the 14359.67 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 627.19 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
