Sheila Okonji Ashinze popularly known as Sheila O is a British-Nigerian broadcaster, media personality and booking agent..[1]. She is the founder and CEO of Zons Holding[2] and also credited as the first broadcaster[3] to host a nationally-syndicated Afrobeats show in the United States[2]
Early Life and Education
Sheila O was born in Lagos, Nigeria[4] to parents of Nigeria descent. She spent her early years in London and later relocated to Chicago in 2008[4]. She is a native of Ibusa in Delta State, Nigeria. She completed her A Levels in Lewisham College, London and moved on to obtain a BA Degree in marketing and Public relations at the University of Westminster Harrow in London, England. [5]
Career
Afrozons
Sheila started broadcasting as an intern on Town FM, a community-based radio station in Edmonton, London[6] as a teenager. In February 2018, a nationally syndicated radio show on terrestrial radio in USA. The show runs from 10pm to 12am every Sunday has partnered with Mixcloud, the British online music streaming service. The show made a debut of the first Afrobeats weekly top 10 charts in the US.[7]
How Far with Sheila O ( TV and podcast show)
In April 2020, she launched a television talkshow called "How Far With Sheila O”[8] on youtube, and is also syndicated in Africa. The show also premiered in Nigeria in late 2020 on HipTV. [9]
Zons Holding
As a booking agent, Sheila has worked with international stars[4] like Megan Thee Stallion, Chris Brown, Jay Z , Beyoncé, Kanye West. Her booking agency ZONS PR/TOURS has been a platform for A-list International Artists to tour Africa[10]
