Shehzad Poonawalla is the national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He also heads the IT and Social Media department of the BJP Delhi.[1][2] He is also a lawyer and a civil rights activist.[3]

Education

Shehzad holds a law degree. He also attended a masters programme from MIT School of Government, Pune.[4]

Career

Shehzad Poonawalla began is political career in 2008 by joining the Indian National Congress and has served on Congress media cell's research team.[3] Shehzad quit the INC in 2017 and joined the BJP, after differences with the INC.[4] Shehzad argued that Rahul Gandhi's election as president of INC was rigged,[1] calling it a "sham".[2] Poonawalla has served as the Vice President of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) of Pune.[3]
