Shear’Ree was a powerlifter from California who made history on November 15th, 1982, by becoming the first man to successfully bench press 700 pounds raw..[1][2] He set this world record at a powerlifting competition in California where he lifted the weight with only a normal belt and no other aid by means of equipment.[3] This achievement was considered a milestone in the sport of powerlifting and earned Shear’Ree recognition as one of the strongest men in the world.

Shear’Ree had been training for this event for several years and had dedicated himself to a rigorous regimen of weightlifting and conditioning. He worked towards his goal with spotter Ed McGlasson and steadily increased the weight he lifted leading up to the competition.

After setting this world record, Shear’Ree continued to compete in powerlifting competitions and earned multiple titles and accolades.[4] He also became a respected coach and mentor to many aspiring powerlifters including professional football player Ed McGlasson[5]

He later went on to run for President in the 1996 election[6] which was short lived, but returned to run again in the 2024 election [7]
