Career
Mayor of Mount Vernon (2020–present)
Patterson-Howard assumed office in January 2020, shortly before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her administration has navigated multiple overlapping crises, including public health emergencies, climate challenges, criminal justice reform, aging infrastructure, and longstanding financial instability. Throughout these challenges, she has emphasized collaborative governance and resource-driven partnerships designed to support marginalized communities.
During her first term, Patterson-Howard and her leadership team secured over $350 million in public and private funding for infrastructure improvements, including the redevelopment of Memorial Stadium. Her administration led major upgrades to city services, including the modernization of Police, Fire, and Public Works fleets and the launch of the “Paving It Forward” street repair initiative.
