Shashi Tyagi is an Indian politician from Bhartiya Janta Party. She is currently a Zila panchayat Member from ward no 29 of deoband vidhan sabha area in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.She was born in 15 may 1970 in a Tyagi Brahmin family. Her father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife.she had 2 younger sister and a younger and a elder brother.Her native village is ghayana which is 8 km away from Deoband. Her husband is Currently working in oil drilling Sector.She have have 2 children named Akarshan tyagi and karan tyagi. She along with her husband leave her in laws village khatauli in search of work and education of her children and settled in deoband in 1998.since her school days she has a deep interest for working in the field of women empowerment.she joined BJP in the year 2000 and worked in the mahila morcha of the party.She was appointed vice president of Saharanpur district BJP mahila morcha in 2007[1]. she was again appointed to the same post in 2010 [2].In 2013 she was appointed a member in the uttar pradesh BJP mahila morcha by state bjp mahila morcha chief kamlawati singh[3].Before lok sabha election 2014 she was given the charge of prabhari for Bulandshahr constituency in UP by kamlawati Singh.She was elected once a president of women Vyapar Mandal of Deoband Town.[4]. She. contested successfuly in Zila Panchayat election 2015 as a bjp supporting candidate.She won the election and got 13.05 percent votes[5]. After winning election she started development work in villages.During covid 19 lockdown she distributed food items and mask among the migrant and local people[6].On 21 sept 2019 she accused the local BJP mla brijesh singh for harassing her relatives in a false case and said to police and media that she will commit self immolation in front of the hose of mla brijesh singh.She tried self immolation in front of mla house,however, due to alertness of local police she was rescued and taken into custody.Later she admitted to chc hospital from where she was referred to district hospital.This news created a shock among the Deoband population and bjp top brass as all of them thought how their women leader in the bjp unit could take such a stern steps.Local bjp district president bijender kashyap immediately take a note of that and said we will look into the matter.Western UP bjp chief Aswani tyagi also commented and said that we will solve the matter as we have made a committee for enquiry in to the matter and details will be send to the higher formation [7].
